Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Don’t Panic by Peter Tunney was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2017, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 6,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 23,750.00 (€ 19,755.45). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Peter Tunney; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot WTF (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot) sold at auction in March 2013 with the realized price of USD 37,500.00 (€ 29,260.30).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Don’t Panic von Peter Tunney im Dezember 2017 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 6.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 23.750,00 (€ 19.755,45) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Peter Tunney; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit WTF (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot) im März 2013 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 37.500,00 (€ 29.260,30).
