Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2018 Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session, which included the work La Volanta by Pedro Figari. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 52,500.00 (€ 44,987.15) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pedro Figari - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Baile Criollo, which sold at auction in May 2011 for USD 146,500.00 (€ 101,905.95).
