This artwork by Pavel Tchelitchew achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in November 2021. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale - Morning Session auction, the work Study for a cover of the theater program for the Ballet Russes sold for USD 31,500.00 (€ 27,908.21) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pavel Tchelitchew achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Concert in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 1,385,000.00 (€ 1,619,289.71).
