This artwork by Paloma Varga Weisz achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in September 2014. In the Contemporary Curated featuring works from the Collection of Joni Gordon of Newspace Gallery auction, the work Frau, Gebettet sold for USD 40,625.00 (€ 32,170.57) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Paloma Varga Weisz; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot without title sold at auction in May 2010 with the realized price of USD 46,875.00 (€ 37,897.16).
