Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2018 Christies in New York held the auction Latin American Art, which included the work Gran Crucifixión VI: in memoriam a los supliciados del Retén de Catia by Oswaldo Vigas. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 37,489.29) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Oswaldo Vigas have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Paraíso Inconcluso in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 221,000.00 (€ 209,240.67).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2018 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Latin American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Gran Crucifixión VI: in memoriam a los supliciados del Retén de Catia von Oswaldo Vigas zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 37.489,29) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Oswaldo Vigas auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Paraíso Inconcluso im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 221.000,00 (€ 209.240,67).
