Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work Toros by Óscar Domínguez was auctioned at Christies in New York in May this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 20,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at USD 113,400.00 (€ 106,438.90). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Óscar Domínguez achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Toro Y Torero (Composition Au Taureau) in February 2015 with an auction result of GBP 1,805,000.00 (€ 2,488,826.92).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Toros von Óscar Domínguez im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 20.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 113.400,00 (€ 106.438,90) mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Óscar Domínguez erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Toro Y Torero (Composition Au Taureau) im Februar 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.805.000,00 (€ 2.488.826,92).
