Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Blue World by Oluwole Omofemi was worth USD 119,700.00 (€ 111,545.99) to a buyer in May last year. This price was achieved in the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session at Phillips in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 30,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Oluwole Omofemi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Invader sold at auction in March last year with the realized price of USD 189,000.00 (€ 170,377.72).
