Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Crab Catcher by Nguyen Phan Chanh was sold in the An Important Collection of Vietnamese Paintings Featuring The Philip Ng Collection auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2008. The price achieved of HKD 343,500.00 (€ 28,308.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 300,000.00 – 400,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nguyen Phan Chanh achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Les Couturières (Seamstresses at Work) in December 2020 with an auction result of HKD 10,930,000.00 (€ 1,152,878.17).
