The work Portrait of William Baker, M.P. (1743-1824), of Bayfordbury Manor, Hertford, Three-Quarter-Length, In A Brown Suit, His Right Hand Holding A Volume of Milton, By A Column In A Landscape by Nathaniel Dance-Holland was sold in the British and Victorian Pictures auction at Christies in London in May 2006. It achieved a price of GBP 20,400.00 (€ 29,777.36), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 36%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nathaniel Dance-Holland achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Thomas Assheton-Smith (1752-1828), full-length, in a red jacket in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 400,000.00 (€ 469,082.94).
