This artwork by Mihály Munkácsy achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in June 2017. In the 19th Century European Paintings auction, the work Hungarian mother And Child sold for GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,317.37) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mihály Munkácsy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Two Families in October 2003 with an auction result of USD 662,700.00 (€ 570,850.20).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 83 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Mihály Munkácsy erzielte im Juni 2017 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 19th Century European Paintings wurde die Arbeit Hungarian mother And Child für GBP 27.500,00 (€ 31.317,37) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mihály Munkácsy erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Two Families im Oktober 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 662.700,00 (€ 570.850,20).
