This artwork by Mihály Munkácsy achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2015. In the 19th Century European Paintings auction, the work Hungarian an Afternoon In The Park sold for GBP 221,000.00 (€ 307,277.24) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 120,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Mihály Munkácsy; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Two Families sold at auction in October 2003 with the realized price of USD 662,700.00 (€ 570,850.20).
