In May 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work Hungarian flirt (La Broderie) by Mihály Munkácsy. The »bidding war« ended at USD 212,500.00 (€ 171,869.95), 42% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mihály Munkácsy - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Two Families, which sold at auction in October 2003 for USD 662,700.00 (€ 570,850.20).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 42 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2012 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Hungarian flirt (La Broderie) von Mihály Munkácsy zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 212.500,00 (€ 171.869,95) und damit 42% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Mihály Munkácsy mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Two Families beobachtet, die im Oktober 2003 für USD 662.700,00 (€ 570.850,20) versteigert wurde.
