Auction result well in line with expectations
The work MS. PU-SE-KAT #1 by Mickalene Thomas was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Christies in London in March last year. The price achieved of GBP 88,200.00 (€ 104,571.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 70,000.00 – 100,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mickalene Thomas achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Racquel Reclining Wearing Purple Jumpsuit in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,830,000.00 (€ 1,500,738.07).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit MS. PU-SE-KAT #1 von Mickalene Thomas wurde im März letzten Jahres in der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 88.200,00 (€ 104.571,03) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 70.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mickalene Thomas erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Racquel Reclining Wearing Purple Jumpsuit im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.830.000,00 (€ 1.500.738,07).
