Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a lady, seated three-quarter length, wearing a white lace chemise and brown shawl by Michiel van Musscher was auctioned at Sothebys in London in March 2021. The price achieved of GBP 2,268.00 (€ 2,664.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Michiel van Musscher achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Interior With A Young Girl, Seated At A Table Covered With An Indian Carpet And Reading A Letter, Attended By A Negro Page in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 456,000.00 (€ 350,823.20).
