Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A female merchant and a maid at the Eenhoornsluis in Amsterdam by Michiel van Musscher was sold in the Important Old Master Paintings from The Eric Albada Jelgersma Collection: Evening sale auction at Christies in London in December 2018. The price achieved of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 69,630.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 80,000.00. Admittedly, works by Michiel van Musscher have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Interior With A Young Girl, Seated At A Table Covered With An Indian Carpet And Reading A Letter, Attended By A Negro Page in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 456,000.00 (€ 350,823.20).
