Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Doctor In His Studio by Michiel van Musscher was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 87,500.00 (€ 77,502.21) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Michiel van Musscher have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Interior With A Young Girl, Seated At A Table Covered With An Indian Carpet And Reading A Letter, Attended By A Negro Page in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 456,000.00 (€ 350,823.20).
