Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Michel François was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,163.71). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Michel François achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Souffles dans le verre in October 2008 with an auction result of GBP 49,250.00 (€ 62,776.08).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Michel François im Juni 2015 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.875,00 (€ 6.163,71) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Michel François erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Souffles dans le verre im Oktober 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 49.250,00 (€ 62.776,08).
