In December 2020 Phillips in New York held the auction 20th c. and Contemporary Art Day Sale - Afternoon Session, which included the work (Forever Free) Strange Fruits by Michael Ray Charles. It changed hands for a price of USD 56,700.00 (€ 46,361.41) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Other works by Michael Ray Charles have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in May 2019 the work Forever Free, One And Another was auctioned for USD 100,000.00 (€ 89,694.14).
