Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work 'Bologna Courtyard' by Michael Eastman. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,625.00 (€ 7,660.42) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Michael Eastman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Isabella's Two Chairs with Laundry, 2000, which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 22,100.00 (€ 28,112.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2014 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Bologna Courtyard' von Michael Eastman zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 10.625,00 (€ 7.660,42) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Michael Eastman mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Isabella's Two Chairs with Laundry, 2000 beobachtet, die im Mai 2008 für GBP 22.100,00 (€ 28.112,17) versteigert wurde.
