Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 'Isabella's Stairwell' by Michael Eastman was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in December this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 512.00 (€ 462.85). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Michael Eastman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Isabella's Two Chairs with Laundry, 2000 in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 22,100.00 (€ 28,112.17).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit 'Isabella's Stairwell' von Michael Eastman im Dezember diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 512,00 (€ 462,85) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Michael Eastman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Isabella's Two Chairs with Laundry, 2000 im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 22.100,00 (€ 28.112,17).
