Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Mel Kendrick was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,520.00 (€ 2,163.65). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mel Kendrick achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Black Dots) in March 2017 with an auction result of USD 25,000.00 (€ 23,368.85).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Mel Kendrick im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.520,00 (€ 2.163,65) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mel Kendrick erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (Black Dots) im März 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 23.368,85).
