Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Black Velvet and Chartreuse by Mary Heilmann was sold in the Contemporary Discoveries auction at Sothebys in New York in March last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 40,320.00 (€ 36,347.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mary Heilmann achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Passenger in May last year with an auction result of USD 945,000.00 (€ 880,626.22).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Black Velvet and Chartreuse von Mary Heilmann wurde im März letzten Jahres in der Auktion Contemporary Discoveries bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 40.320,00 (€ 36.347,25) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mary Heilmann erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Passenger im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 945.000,00 (€ 880.626,22).
