Upper estimate price exceeded by 73 %.
In October 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art, which included the work Two Women At A Window by Mark Rothko. The »bidding war« ended at USD 138,600.00 (€ 119,000.60), 73% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mark Rothko achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work No. 10 in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 81,925,000.00 (€ 74,517,918.86).
