Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Mods) by Mark Handforth was auctioned at Phillips in London in February 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 14,375.00 (€ 17,440.33). Admittedly, works by Mark Handforth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bent Pipe in February 2007 with an auction result of USD 198,000.00 (€ 149,659.86).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Mods) von Mark Handforth im Februar 2014 bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 14.375,00 (€ 17.440,33) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mark Handforth auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bent Pipe im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 198.000,00 (€ 149.659,86).
