It achieved a price of USD 100,000.00 (€ 73,313.78), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 43%. Admittedly, works by Makoto Saito have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Snow B.B. (No. 20130301) in October 2016 with an auction result of HKD 3,200,000.00 (€ 376,573.62).

Die Arbeit Myself Portrait 03-1 von Makoto Saito kam im Mai 2014 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 100.000,00 (€ 73.313,78) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 43%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Makoto Saito auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Snow B.B. (No. 20130301) im Oktober 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 3.200.000,00 (€ 376.573,62).
