It achieved a price of USD 8,400.00 (€ 6,476.98), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 20%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mahonri Young achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Knockdown in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 87,500.00 (€ 70,348.93).

Die Arbeit Elephant': A Pair of Bookends von Mahonri Young wurde im März 2005 in der Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 8.400,00 (€ 6.476,98) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 20%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mahonri Young erzielen.
