Auction result well in line with expectations
In October this year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work Three Spheres I (B. 336) by Maurits Cornelis Escher. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,795.00 (€ 10,214.80) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurits Cornelis Escher achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Reptiles (Bool 327) in April last year with an auction result of USD 756,000.00 (€ 717,471.77).
