Auction result misses estimated price range
In December last year a collector was able to acquire the work Betel Nut Beauty by Liu Xiaodong for HKD 480,000.00 (€ 57,521.03). This price was achieved in the auction 21st Century Art Day Sale at Christies in Hong Kong and was even below the estimate range of HKD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Liu Xiaodong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Disobeying The Rules in October 2014 with an auction result of HKD 66,200,000.00 (€ 6,815,482.84).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Dezember letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Betel Nut Beauty von Liu Xiaodong für HKD 480.000,00 (€ 57.521,03) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion 21st Century Art Day Sale bei Christies in Hong Kong erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 500.000,00 – 700.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Liu Xiaodong erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Disobeying The Rules im Oktober 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 66.200.000,00 (€ 6.815.482,84).
