In April 2013 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction 20th Century Chinese Art, which included the work Distant Traveler by Liu Jiutong. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 687,500.00 (€ 67,298.56), 43% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Liu Jiutong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mountain Against Island, which sold at auction in November 2015 for HKD 1,360,000.00 (€ 166,104.90).

Im April 2013 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion 20th Century Chinese Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Distant Traveler von Liu Jiutong zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 687.500,00 (€ 67.298,56) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Liu Jiutong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mountain Against Island beobachtet, die im November 2015 für HKD 1.360.000,00 (€ 166.104,90) versteigert wurde.
