This artwork by Lilla Cabot Perry achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2019. In the American Art auction, the work Reading sold for USD 125,000.00 (€ 111,328.82) - well above the upper estimate of USD 70,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Lilla Cabot Perry; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Girl Reading A Book sold at auction in November 2017 with the realized price of USD 150,000.00 (€ 126,071.61).
