Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Pavilion and Angelic Smile by Li Chen was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale auction at Phillips in Hong Kong in March this year. The price achieved of HKD 1,778,000.00 (€ 208,185.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 1,200,000.00 – 2,400,000.00. Admittedly, works by Li Chen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dragon-Riding Buddha (Executed In 2001) in April 2021 with an auction result of HKD 17,975,000.00 (€ 1,924,505.40).
