Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2002 Christies in London held the auction Photographs, which included the work The Chess Players by Lewis Carroll. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,107.00 (€ 4,865.60). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lewis Carroll achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Alexandra Kitchin in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 133,000.00 (€ 85,431.65).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Chess Players von Lewis Carroll zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 3.107,00 (€ 4.865,60) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lewis Carroll erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Alexandra Kitchin im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 133.000,00 (€ 85.431,65).
