Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In September 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included the work Arrangement in Black and Gray by Leon Polk Smith. Here, the upper estimate of USD 100,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 107,100.00 (€ 92,511.01). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Leon Polk Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Black Over Red, which sold at auction in November 2018 for USD 336,500.00 (€ 297,182.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im September 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch die Arbeit Arrangement in Black and Gray von Leon Polk Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 100.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 107.100,00 (€ 92.511,01) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Leon Polk Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Black Over Red beobachtet, die im November 2018 für USD 336.500,00 (€ 297.182,73) versteigert wurde.
