In June this year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work Volair Constellation Series: two plates by Leon Polk Smith. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,445.00 (€ 4,070.51), 48% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leon Polk Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Over Red in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 336,500.00 (€ 297,182.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 48 % übertroffen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Editions & Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Volair Constellation Series: two plates von Leon Polk Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.445,00 (€ 4.070,51) und damit 48% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leon Polk Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Black Over Red im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 336.500,00 (€ 297.182,73).
