This artwork by Lawson Wood achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2001. In the BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL DRAWINGS AND WATERCOLOURS AND ILLUST auction, the work "Here begineth the first lesson" sold for GBP 1,997.50 (€ 3,263.64) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Lawson Wood; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Gran'pop starts a poultry farm sold at auction in December 2002 with the realized price of GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,411.05).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Lawson Wood erzielte im Dezember 2001 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL DRAWINGS AND WATERCOLOURS AND ILLUST wurde die Arbeit "Here begineth the first lesson" für GBP 1.997,50 (€ 3.263,64) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Lawson Wood; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Gran'pop starts a poultry farm im Dezember 2002 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 3.525,00 (€ 5.411,05).
