Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July 2007 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations, which included the work 'Gran'pop still on top: 'Hang on! You'll soon be up!' by Lawson Wood. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,138.73), 20% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lawson Wood - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Gran'pop starts a poultry farm, which sold at auction in December 2002 for GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,411.05).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Gran'pop still on top: 'Hang on! You'll soon be up!' von Lawson Wood zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.440,00 (€ 2.138,73) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Lawson Wood mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Gran'pop starts a poultry farm beobachtet, die im Dezember 2002 für GBP 3.525,00 (€ 5.411,05) versteigert wurde.
