In July 2007 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations, which included the work 'Here's to a bumper xmas' by Lawson Wood. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,680.00 (€ 2,495.19), 40% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lawson Wood - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Gran'pop starts a poultry farm, which sold at auction in December 2002 for GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,411.05).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Here's to a bumper xmas' von Lawson Wood zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.680,00 (€ 2.495,19) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Lawson Wood mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Gran'pop starts a poultry farm beobachtet, die im Dezember 2002 für GBP 3.525,00 (€ 5.411,05) versteigert wurde.
