Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Boston Massacre by Larry Rivers was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,160.00 (€ 1,627.24). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Larry Rivers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Africa I in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 2,077,000.00 (€ 1,703,296.70).
