Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Kelley Walker was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 35,000.00 – 55,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 31,250.00 (€ 28,158.23). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kelley Walker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Star Press in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 572,750.00 (€ 652,107.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Kelley Walker im Mai 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 35.000,00 – 55.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 31.250,00 (€ 28.158,23) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kelley Walker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Black Star Press im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 572.750,00 (€ 652.107,49).
