KARL BLOSSFELDT (1865-1932) 12 Fotografien Köln: Galerie Wilde, 1975. 12 gelatin silver prints mounted on board, each titled, dated and numbered '47/50' twice in pencil and ink, signed by Jürgen Wilde in pencil with photographer's and Galerie Wilde Köln archive stamps in ink on the reverse of the mounts; each image/sheet: 10 1/8 x 7 5/8 in. (; each mount: 17 x 12 5/8 in. (; prints enclosed in paper folio together with a linen clamshell case with artist name on label affixed to cover, 17 1/2 x 13 x 1 in. (; accompanied with colophon; number forty-seven from an edition of fifty.
Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Karl Blossfeldt could be acquired at Christies in New York in April this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples: Online auction, the work 12 Fotografien changed hands for USD 2,016.00 (€ 1,826.09) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Karl Blossfeldt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Equisetum hyemale. Winterschachtelhalm 12-fache Vergrösserung in April 2000 with an auction result of USD 82,250.00 (€ 90,494.00).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Karl Blossfeldt konnte im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples: Online wechselte die Arbeit 12 Fotografien für USD 2.016,00 (€ 1.826,09) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Karl Blossfeldt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Equisetum hyemale. Winterschachtelhalm 12-fache Vergrösserung im April 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 82.250,00 (€ 90.494,00).
