Sold at the lower estimate price
The work Life Sucks by Justin Ponmany was sold in the Modern & Contemporary Indian Art auction at Sothebys in New York in September 2008. The result of USD 60,000.00 (€ 42,610.61) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Justin Ponmany - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Staple agony - II (Plastic Memory), which sold at auction in June 2008 for GBP 109,250.00 (€ 138,095.66).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Life Sucks von Justin Ponmany wurde im September 2008 in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary Indian Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 60.000,00 (€ 42.610,61) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Justin Ponmany mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Staple agony - II (Plastic Memory) beobachtet, die im Juni 2008 für GBP 109.250,00 (€ 138.095,66) versteigert wurde.
