Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Fracture by Julie Mehretu was auctioned at Phillips in New York in June this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 5,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at USD 22,860.00 (€ 20,934.07). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Julie Mehretu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Ground (Deep Light) in April 2019 with an auction result of HKD 44,209,000.00 (€ 5,032,271.67).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Fracture von Julie Mehretu im Juni diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 5.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 22.860,00 (€ 20.934,07) mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Julie Mehretu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Black Ground (Deep Light) im April 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 44.209.000,00 (€ 5.032.271,67).
