Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Julie Curtiss achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March 2020. In the Post-War to Present auction, the work Redfaced sold for USD 162,500.00 (€ 147,338.83) - well above the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Julie Curtiss - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Three Widows, which sold at auction in June 2021 for USD 466,200.00 (€ 393,484.13).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Julie Curtiss erzielte im März 2020 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War to Present wurde die Arbeit Redfaced für USD 162.500,00 (€ 147.338,83) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Julie Curtiss mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Three Widows beobachtet, die im Juni 2021 für USD 466.200,00 (€ 393.484,13) versteigert wurde.
