This artwork by Joseph Stashkevetch achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2018. In the The Collection of Melva Bucksbaum: Post-War and Contemporary Art, Photographs and Prints auction, the work Peony sold for USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,133.78) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Joseph Stashkevetch; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Clouds #7 (Muni Station) sold at auction in February 2007 with the realized price of USD 18,000.00 (€ 13,605.44).
