It achieved a price of EUR 17,925.00 exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 20 %. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joseph Mendes da Costa - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Woman with child, which sold at auction in December 2001 for EUR 52,875.00.

Die Arbeit Vincent van Gogh - Mijn god mag het von Joseph Mendes da Costa wurde im Juni 2003 in der Auktion Twentieth Century Art including Belgian Art bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von EUR 17.925,00 und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 20 %. Für andere Arbeiten von Joseph Mendes da Costa mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Woman with child beobachtet, die im Dezember 2001 für EUR 52.875,00 versteigert wurde.
