Auction result well in line with expectations
The work St. Francis of Assisi by Joseph Mendes da Costa was sold in the The Sculpture Sale auction at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2006. The price achieved of EUR 8,400.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. Admittedly, works by Joseph Mendes da Costa have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Woman with child in December 2001 with an auction result of EUR 52,875.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit St. Francis of Assisi von Joseph Mendes da Costa wurde im November 2006 in der Auktion The Sculpture Sale bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 8.400,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 7.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joseph Mendes da Costa auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Woman with child im Dezember 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 52.875,00.
