Here, the upper estimate of EUR 12,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for EUR 12,600.00. Admittedly, works by Joseph Mendes da Costa have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Woman with child in December 2001 with an auction result of EUR 52,875.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Sick Monkey With Eyes Closed von Joseph Mendes da Costa wurde im November 2006 in der Auktion The Sculpture Sale bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von EUR 12.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für EUR 12.600,00 einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joseph Mendes da Costa auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Woman with child im Dezember 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 52.875,00.
