The »bidding war« ended at USD 37,500.00 (€ 34,387.90), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Christian Leyendecker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Carousel Ride in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 516,100.00 (€ 421,995.09).

Die Arbeit Portrait Of Fleet Admiral William D. Leahy von Joseph Christian Leyendecker wurde im September 2019 in der Auktion American Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 37.500,00 (€ 34.387,90) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Christian Leyendecker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Carousel Ride im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 516.100,00 (€ 421.995,09).
