Auction result misses estimated price range
In March 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Mortman by Joseph Christian Leyendecker for USD 22,500.00 (€ 20,039.19). This price was achieved in the auction American Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Christian Leyendecker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Carousel Ride in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 516,100.00 (€ 421,995.09).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im März 2019 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Mortman von Joseph Christian Leyendecker für USD 22.500,00 (€ 20.039,19) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion American Art bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Christian Leyendecker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Carousel Ride im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 516.100,00 (€ 421.995,09).
