Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Study For New Year'S Baby (Blowing Bubbles) by Joseph Christian Leyendecker was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,820.00 (€ 7,526.88). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Christian Leyendecker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Carousel Ride in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 516,100.00 (€ 421,995.09).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Study For New Year'S Baby (Blowing Bubbles) von Joseph Christian Leyendecker im September 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 8.820,00 (€ 7.526,88) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Christian Leyendecker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Carousel Ride im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 516.100,00 (€ 421.995,09).
